A Vision for Creativity, Community, and Continuity
“Art Connecting” is more than a name—it’s a living philosophy.
At the heart of River Art Venue, Art Connecting stands as a unique museum initiative dedicated to preserving and evolving lacquer art while building bridges across generations, disciplines, and cultures. Here, tradition is not preserved in isolation—it is given new life through shared experience, innovation, and community connection.
A Founder’s Vision
“For over 30 years, I have been drawn to contemporary art—not just as a collector, but as someone who believes in its power to connect people. This journey led to the founding of a contemporary gallery, and later, a museum that brings people together—young and old, artist and audience—to learn, to grow, and to create.”
Sabine Zimpfer

Art Connecting was born from a deeply personal vision—to create a space where artistic exploration becomes a shared experience. Not just a museum, it’s a living space for human connection, where creativity becomes a common language.
A Museum That Connects
Rooted in Lacquer, Open to the World
Art Connecting centers on lacquer art—a delicate, centuries-old practice deeply embedded in Asian heritage. The museum safeguards this craft not by isolating it in glass cases, but by inviting collaboration, experimentation, and participation.

Through academic collaborations, Art Connecting integrates modern tools and conservation practices—such as monitoring ovens for humidity and temperature—to sustain the production and understanding of lacquer art for the next generation.

A Platform for Dialogue and Discovery

Mission Highlights:
- A Space for Connection and Expression: Open to all, not just artists. Art Connecting invites people to gather, reflect, and express what words often cannot.
- Collaboration Across Fields: The museum actively seeks partnerships with technologists, designers, and researchers to broaden the reach and relevance of art.
- Global Exchange and Cultural Sharing: Through exhibitions, residencies, and public programs, Art Connecting becomes a hub where stories and traditions from around the world meet.
- Community Engagement with Local Wisdom: Art Connecting works closely with the local community, reconnecting people with their heritage and exploring how ancient knowledge can shape modern life.

Beyond the Museum Walls
Art Connecting is just one part of the River Art Venue. Alongside it, La Luna Gallery supports emerging and established artists through commercial exhibitions, and River Dailey offers a hands-on space for workshops and community gatherings. Together, they form a creative ecosystem that supports art in all its forms—from preservation to production, from reflection to celebration.
A Living Space for Creative Connection
Art Connecting is not only a space to view art—it’s a space to live with it. To protect lacquer is to protect a way of seeing, making, and understanding the world. And through this work, Art Connecting reminds us that art is not a relic of the past, but a promise to the future.

Born from the founder’s lifelong passion for contemporary art and cultural preservation, the space reflects a deep belief in art’s power to bring people together. Rooted in decades of dedication, it brings together generations, cultures, and perspectives. Here, creativity becomes a bridge—helping us see each other more clearly, and shaping a more connected, understanding world.
